Mattis arrives in Pakistan on one-day visit

Islamabad (Web Desk): US Secretary of Defense, James Mattis arrived on Monday at the Noor Khan Airbase Islamabad and officials of Defense and Foreign ministries received at the airport. The visit is part of Mattis’ trip to three other countries this week, which he is undertaking to “re-affirm the enduring US commitment to partnerships in the Middle East, West Africa and South Asia”, a press release issued by the US Department of Defence said. Mattis will meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa during his day-long trip. IHC banishes Nawaz Sharif’s appeal over NAB references

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court rejected Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea to club all his National NAB referenceson Monday’s early morning. The two-member bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani announced the verdict today. Justice Aamer read out the short order today, and a detailed order will be issued later. The NAB court on had again dismissed Nawaz’s plea seeking the clubbing of three references into one, which was later challenged in the IHC on November 8. At the hearing on November 20, Nawaz’s lawyer pointed out similarities between the Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment references, pleading that they be combined. Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Azam Nazir Tarar stated that the three individuals named as accused in both references are the same, adding that of the 13 witnesses in both references, six are the same. ‘Parchi’ trailer is out, Hareem Farooq steals the show

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistani film industry is on revolution. It is going to be a heaving winter season with back to back releases. Trailer of upcoming film Parchi, which is directed by Azfar Jafri and produced by Imran Raza Kazmi, Hareem Farooq and Arif Lakhani, was released. Featuring an ensemble cast which includes Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Usman Mukhtar and veteran actor Shafqat Cheema, the trailer indeed has left us wanting for more. Hareem Farooq has nailed her role as a gangster along with looking like an absolute diva in the song Billo Hai composed by Sahara and featuring Manj Musik and Nindy Kaur. She might just be overshadowing all the male-characters in the film. Parchi is slated to release on January 5, 2018. US automakers stated mixed sales for November

US auto sales offered a mixed picture in November, with Ford reporting an increase but GM and Fiat Chrysler posting declines, according to monthly sales data released Friday. The major Japanese automakers also were split, with Honda and Nissan posting strong sales increases, while a gain in light trucks for Toyota was not enough to offset a steep drop in sales of cars. The pace of sales also fell sharply for electric automaker Tesla. Analysts said the varied results last month came as average prices hit all-time highs and US demand for autos may have peaked. Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said highly popular SUVs once again have driven sales in 2017. He said in a statement, “Consumers have proven time and time again this year that they’re not afraid of the bigger price tags, higher APRs and longer loan terms.” Total sales at the US number-two automaker came in at 210,771 vehicles, slightly better than the forecast by Edmunds.
